Session 04: Steps and Timeframes (part I)
Welcome to the fourth session of Online Notes, the project to develop a system that will transition the notation and log process for Cryptiquest projects to an online platform. So far, for this project, I’ve established the goal, objectives, tools for ensuring those objectives, and a list of deliverables. This session aims to suss out the steps and timeframes for the project.
Here is the list of deliverables revealed from last session:
- Goal (done)
- List of objectives and guidelines (done)
- Tools for measuring objectives (done)
- List of deliverables (done)
- Steps and timelines for each deliverable (in progress)
- List of available online tools for the system
- Analysis of online tools for the system
- Design of system
- Implement the system
- Add content to the system (up until it is up-to-date)
- Analysis of system
- List of changes
- Implement changes
- Launch plan
- Supplemental materials
Now I will go through each deliverable and determine what steps there are (if any) and timeframes – which will be roughly estimated to the 15 minute chunk. I like to do this process for all the deliverables – even the ones that had already been completed
The (1.) Goal seemingly took a nominal amount of time but part of this is recalling the reason for the project and corraling thoughts into a simple statement. Despite that sounding like prepwork (or steps), it really felt all rolled into one task. I’ll record this as 15 minutes.
The (2.) List of Objectives took about 30 minutes to make and there were no steps for this.
The (3.) Tools for Measuring Objectives was a quick assignment considering the task. 30 Minutes.
The (4.) List of Deliverables had no steps and took about an hour to work out.
The (5.) Steps and Timelines for Each Deliverable (need a better name for this) should take about an hour and I don’t expect any steps.
The (6.) List of Available Online Tools for the System might take awhile as research projects tend to do. I’ll have to not only find a list of them but do some research to see their capabilities and log that info. I’ll note this as a 6 hour project.
The (7.) Analysis of Online Tools for the System shouldn’t take too long and won’t require any steps: 15 minutes.
The rest of the deliverables will be difficult to determine steps and timeframes for since that data will depend on the system that we go with so, for now, I’ll put this deliverable on hold until after Deliverable 7 is complete.
So here is where we stand:
Goal (15 min – done)List of objectives and guidelines (30 min – done)Tools for measuring objectives (30 min – done)List of deliverables (1 hour – done)- Steps and timelines for each deliverable (1 hour – on hold)
- List of available online tools for the system (6 hour – to do)
- Analysis of online tools for the system (15 min – to do)
So during the next few sessions, I’ll try to hammer out research regarding online tools.
