Session 14: Site Launch Press Release
Hey, hey, hey – welcome to this session of Online Notes – the project about creating an online system for hosting Cryptiquest project notes. The last session uncovered a list of materials as well as plans for those materials. In this session I am going to work on the Press Release.
Here were the notes regarding the press release from the last session:
For the press release, the focus should be on the launch of the site, not the anniversary. The social media statuses can focus on the anniversary though and they should be festive.

-Online Notes Session 13: Site Launch Design and Deliverables
• What the site is
• What the site enables Cryptiquest to do
• Contact info
And that’s it. The idea here is to keep the press release to the standard “professional” voice that Cryptiquest has been using. Following the bullet list, I’m going to punch out a first draft here:
Product Launch: Cryptiquest Projects (first draft)
Cryptiquest, LLC is proud to announce the “Cryptiquest Projects” website – a new public resource created to document, store, and share Cryptiquest’s project notes and documents.
The Cryptiquest Projects website is the online workshop used by Cryptiquest developer and owner, Luke Reynolds, to document endeavors as he works through them. In addition, this site will store company guidelines, surveys, and other project management tools created by Cryptiquest and made available to the public for use.
The Cryptiquest Projects website was created as way to invite the public into the workshop to foster discussion and community regarding what Cryptiquest is developing and how it is developing it – all in real time.
While project sessions are frequent, each project will culminate in a retrospective which will explain what steps were taken to complete the project and lessons learned.

I’m not sure what to put for the contact information. Typically that’s where I’d put a summary of the brand, not contact information. Regardless, that draft is a bit clunky (as first drafts tend to be). The outline would look something like: Overview > What it does > What need it fulfills > What to expect going forward. I think that works but it needs some editing.
Product Launch: Cryptiquest Projects (second draft)
Cryptiquest, LLC is proud to announce the Cryptiquest Projects website – a new public resource created to document, store, and share Cryptiquest’s project notes and documents.
The Cryptiquest Projects website is an online workshop created for Cryptiquest developer and owner, Luke Reynolds, to log the steps taken while working on projects for Cryptiquest. In addition, this site will serve as a repository for company guidelines, surveys, and other tools Cryptiquest utilizes for project management and which will be made available to the public for use.
The Cryptiquest Projects website was created as a way to foster real-time discussions with relevant communities in regards to projects and tools developed by Cryptiquest.
Cryptiquest’s projects are produced step-by-step during work periods called sessions (frequently released – sometimes twice a day) and each project culminates in a retrospective (less frequent – perhaps one every month or so). Retrospectives explain what steps were taken to complete the project and what lessons were learned from the experience. It is Cryptiquest’s intention that these retrospectives are not only learning tools for the company, but they also serve the public in the same capacity.

Okay, that’s pretty succinct, I think. I also think I need to get a second opinion so I will present this to a confidant for review…
Okay, so after some feedback, I came up with this bad boy:

Okay, I feel pretty confident with this. That took longer than expected (90 minutes) but that’s okay. I like the outcome. During the next session I will tackle the script and images for the social media messages. Should be fun!
